The Marvin and Sandra Fong Family Foundation has awarded five scholarships totaling $7,500. Deserving students, selected by their respective schools, demonstrate the qualities of leadership, hard work, compassion, and a commitment to the community. Each recipient received $1,500.

“We strongly believe in the importance of education and are pleased to assist Hawaii’s outstanding students achieve their goals. It is especially meaningful that this year’s recipients attended our alma maters,” said Marvin and Sandra Fong. Marvin Fong graduated from University High School (now known as University Laboratory School) and received his juris doctor degree from the California Western School of Law, while Sandra Au Fong graduated from Kalani High School.

2022 Scholarship Recipients

  • Sara Kang, a 2022 Kalani High School graduate, will attend the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in nursing, this fall.
  • Hyeyeon Park, a 2022 Kalani High School graduate, will attend Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., majoring in biology, this fall.
  • Caleb Murai, a 2022 graduate of University Laboratory School, will attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa this fall, majoring in business.
  • Riley Ng, a 2022 graduate of University Laboratory School, will attend Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. this fall, majoring in pre-law.
  • Caitlyn Imamura received her juris doctor degree from the California Western School of Law in San Diego this spring and plans to return to Hawaii to begin her law career. She received her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2017
